Spring Salvo

It’s time to fire up my blog
and add to the poetic smog.
Marching thus, to April’s drum
may cause my muse to pause, mid-strum
and harp on my poetic lack
of will toward permanent attack.
Didactic, though, I strive to be;
And write with pure sincerity.

I’ll do my best to rail, and preach
and by such arts, some poor soul reach
assuring them they are not mad
but yes, the world IS worse than bad.
I’m sorry that I lack the power
to versify upon a flower.
(Leave that for some other, later
blithe pathetic poetaster.)

Where’s my muse?
They must have maced her.

Adore bad Haiku?
Check back here during April
and you’ll get your fill

Marching Towards April

I am re-posting previous work during March.
Since 2014, I’ve published 30 original poems

Unfortunate Juxtapositions

Our jihad is their day of judgement
Your judgement is God’s retribution
Their threats are not empty
Our iniquity is not yet complete
It’s just alarmist nonsense
It is not actually happening yet . . .

Your data plan upgrade was his execution
My Jeremiad was her Magnificat
Their Canaan is our Babylonian exile
The Babylonian exile was a Manchurian candidate
All candidates are out of commission
Your Messianic return will be their Assyrian uprising
Their fortuitous coincidence is our unfortunate juxtaposition.

One man’s doom is another man’s heaven
Count the hours—don’t stop at eleven
It falls at the end of the sixtieth minute
No matter how the Godless try to spin it
Read the headlines—then get back to me
( you who read poetry blogs distractedly )

Poetic Hits

It’s fun getting a few more views per day than usual as we move toward Spring with National Poetry Writing Month. I enjoy checking other people’s blogs as well.  If you want to participate,  you can submit your poetry blog HERE.

This year, I will re-post some of my older poems during March.
I have published 30 original works every April for the last four years.

You can read them by clicking on the NaPoWriMo widgets to the right

This one from 2015 gets a lot of hits
(I expect by people looking for something else
and for all the wrong reasons)
:

      Hello Porneia

Girly-girl, I feel you near . . .
thanks for stopping by (again).
You knock, then whisper in my ear
that S-word mightier than the pen.

I haven’t seen you for so long;
beholding now your rosy charms
let me let you right my wrong
within your warm and virtual arms.

Take me to that field of flowers
where the wondrous waters flow.
Temper there my raging powers—
none, save God, will know.

(Porneia and I go back a long way . . .  but since we broke up, our relationship is strictly Platonic)
