Triple Nonet

Counting the syllables to Doomsday
Aware of distant people’s doom,
We are busy ignoring
The elephant in room…
The ears start to flap
The trunk now sways
But the blast
Delays —
 BOOM !

The British use a very strange word
For predatory abusers.
One wonders where it came from
and who were its choosers.
High security
offender’s wing.
Prisoners’
plaything:
nonce

Perfect for those with little to say:
Another weird poetic form
Yielding useless wedge-shaped verse.
Let’s see how it plays out…
This silly symptom
Of a dumbed-down
Postmodern
Godless
Age.

write in a specific form – the nonet.  A nonet has nine lines.
The first line has nine syllables, the second has eight, and so on until you get to the last line,
which has just one syllable.
